LetterTrain Privacy Policy

Last updated November 4, 2026

LetterTrain (“the app”, listed on Google Play as “Letter Train: ABC Tracing”) is published by AlvaForge, the brand of 18171254 Canada Inc. (“we”, “us”), Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. This page explains what the app handles and why. It applies to the Android version distributed through Google Play.

The short version

What stays on your phone

Progress and settings. Which letters and islands your child has finished, the paints in use, and the sound, voice, tips and guide settings are kept in the app’s private storage on the phone.

Your child’s name (optional). A grown-up may type a first name so the app can say hello. It stays on the phone and is never sent to us. You can change or remove it at any time in Settings, or skip it.

The letters your child paints. Each traced letter is kept on the phone so the app can show the child’s own letters on the train and on the parents’ “Best letters” page.

Phone backup. If backup is turned on in your phone’s settings, Android may include the app’s data in your phone’s backup to your own Google account, so it can come back on a new phone. That backup is Google’s service on your Google account; we cannot see it. You can turn it off in Android’s settings.

Sharing pictures

Behind the grown-ups’ check, the “Best letters” page can make a picture of your child’s letters. When a grown-up taps Share, Android’s share sheet opens and the picture goes only to the app you choose (for example a message to family). We do not receive it.

Speech

The app plays voices recorded for it. For a few words it may use the phone’s own text-to-speech, which Android provides on the phone through the speech engine chosen in your phone’s settings.

The purchase

Full access is a one-time purchase through Google Play Billing. Google handles the payment and tells the app only that full access is owned on your Google account, so it can unlock the app and restore it on another phone. The app keeps that answer on the phone so it works offline. We do not receive your name, card number or billing address. Google’s privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Children

LetterTrain is made for children aged about 3 to 6, to be used with a parent or caregiver. We do not collect personal information from children (or from anyone): the app has no chat, no account, no ads and no links that leave it for the child. The parents’ area, the purchase and sharing sit behind a grown-ups’ check (hold a button, then answer a sum). We follow the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and Google Play’s Families policy.

Deleting the data

Uninstalling the app deletes everything it kept on the phone. You can also clear it in Android’s settings (Apps > LetterTrain > Storage > Clear storage), or remove just the child’s name in the app’s Settings. Your full access purchase stays with your Google account and comes back with Restore.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is published at this address with a new “last updated” date.
